The All of Us Research Program University of Arizona-Banner Health on Nov. 14 welcomed LeeAnn Martinez as its executive director to oversee operational management and serve as the program’s National Institutes of Health liaison in Arizona and Colorado.

The All of Us Research Program University of Arizona-Banner Health is honoring Sairam Parthasarathy, MD, as the August Arizona Health Champion. All of Us UArizona-Banner created the Arizona Health Champion award series to recognize health professionals, educators, community partners and researchers who are dedicated to increasing the quality of health care, access and research, especially in underserved communities.

Ruiz Named All of Us Arizona Health Champion for Work With Hispanic/Latino Youth

The All of Us Research Program University of Arizona-Banner Health is honoring Jesus “Chucho” Ruiz Vai Sevoi - Eudeve (Opata) Tlamanalcah, a community leader specializing in youth engagement, as the July Arizona Health Champion award winner. Ruiz’s commitment to social justice and dedication to increasing mental health awareness through community partners like Chicanos Por La Causa is vital to developing future generations in underserved communities. Ruiz works to educate and increase engagement among young men through the Emerge! Center Against Domestic Abuse and through programs such as “La Cultura Cura” and “A Call to Men’s Live Respect Coaching Healthy Manhood.”

The All of Us Research Program University of Arizona-Banner Health is pleased to honor Jimmy Thomason, executive director of Aunt Rita's Foundation, as the June Arizona Health Champion award winner. Myths, Stigmas, and Barriers in LGBTQ+ Health Webinar

Misinformation about LGBTQ+ health issues contributes to biases against the community, creates confusion over important health questions, and can even prevent some from seeking health care when needed. The more we know about our health, the more empowered we can become to make informed health decisions that affect us daily. Join us as we confront, dispel, and correct common LGBTQ+ health myths and discuss what everyone can do to help eradicate barriers to inclusive medical treatment and ensure representation in health research for all.

Moreno to Lead All of Us Research Program University of Arizona-Banner Health

The All of Us Research Program University of Arizona-Banner Health appointed Francisco Moreno, MD, to lead the program as contact principal investigator, effective May 23... As contact principal investigator, Dr. Moreno will direct the program’s vision and operations in Arizona and Colorado as the primary liaison between the UArizona-Banner team and the National Institutes of Health.

David W. Coon named All of Us Arizona Health Champion for his work in research and health care for older adults

The May Arizona Health Champion recipient, David W. Coon, PhD, is the director of the Center for Innovation in Healthy & Resilient Aging at Arizona State University and co-lead of Outreach, Recruitment, and Engagement for Arizona Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center. Coon leads research projects including development of novel interventions for culturally diverse older adults with chronic disease such as Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, cancer, HIV, and later onset depression. “Through our work, we continue to learn better ways to alleviate stress and distress and conduct effective care planning for these individuals and their families,” says Coon.

All of Us Research Program Releases 100,000 Whole Genome Sequences to Support Research Into Hundreds of Diseases

The All of Us Research Program has made nearly 100,000 highly diverse whole genome sequences available to researchers. About 50% of the genomes are from individuals who identify with racial or ethnic groups that historically have been underrepresented in research.

To celebrate All of Us UArizona-Banner reaching the milestone of 50,000 participants and highlight the importance of health research, Arizona Governor Doug Ducey has proclaimed March "Arizonans in Health Research Month." Arizona is leading the nation in enrollments for the All of Us Research Program, an initiative from the National Institutes of Health to build the largest and most diverse database of its kind so researchers can study how factors such as genetics, environment and lifestyle impact health. Over 50,000 Arizonans – your friends, neighbors, community leaders, health workers and more – have shared their health data to help improve health for future generations.
